Use this, not the built-in wifi of the Wii, of any media streaming. August 22, 2010 C. Henderson (LA, CA USA) The Wii is about 30' away from the wireless gateway I ave in my house. I even tried putting one in the same room. the Wifi on my LG390 BD player was working smoothly on NetFlix, but not the Wii. I purchased this to plug into an ASUS N Router that then connected to the gateway. It streams everything from my PlayOn server to all of the NetFlix streams without issue. Plus, plugging it in was a dream. Use this device if you ever want to get media onto your Wii without dropping out.
Simple Simple Works Works :) May 6, 2010 Teresa Suslik Nintendo designed the Wii Console to scan its USB ports for network broadcast... This means that any internet signal coming in on either of the USB ports would allow the console to use that port for internet connectivity. Simply go to the Wii Management Menu, navigate to "Internet", click one of the 3 connections available, choose wired and let the Wii do the rest. It's faster than wireless (by a very noticeable amount) and wired has always been and always will be the leader in stability and efficiency. Kudos to Planex for making such a well designed interface.
DOES NOT WORK! April 10, 2010 LouieRocks (Los Angeles) Tried everything to get this thing to work. All other reviews are positive and i really don't see how or why. I have my 360 and ps3 connected to the internet but this couldn't get my wii online. Maybe i got a bad one. Either way i sent it back the same day.
Works like it should March 14, 2010 A. S. Gosselin (Kingman, AZ) Nintendo would like you to believe using their "approved" usb LAN adapter, at double the cost, is the only way to go. Not true! Not only is the Planex adapter of good quality, it works perfectly too. My main reason for purchase is the upcoming Netflix streaming video option for the Wii. In the meantime I was able to update my Wii, and check out all of the cool online apps!
Just works January 13, 2010 Lawrence Timpe (seattle) It just works. Was having trouble connecting over wireless for my Wii. Plugged the Planex USB2.0 LAN Adapter in, waited a minute. Tried the other USB port, waited another minute, and tada! Green lights and everything is good to go.
If you are looking for a high bandwidth connection for you Wii and Switch ports are not a problem for you, this is a great solution.
