Product Description GW-USMicroN is a IEEE802.11n USB adapter. It is the smallest USB adapter of its kind in the world, with the size of approximately 16.00mm(W) x 8.0mm(H) x 33.5(D).(Researched by Planex) It provides an access speed of 150Mbps with IEEE802.11n Draft2.0 protocol. It is also officially recommended by Xlink Kai, which is a software that allows PSP or Nintendo DS users to play online games all over the world. GW-USMicroN has a WPS button that provides easy wireless LAN set up by clicking the utility of a PC and pushing the button of a wireless router. Even a first time wireless LAN user can set it up very easily.

Good Item - BAD Shipping cost September 3, 2010 R. Quick (New York) I Like the item, but I could not believe it cost $ 6.99 to ship a 3.2 OUNCE USB Adapter.
$ 6.99 is crazy. The USB adapter cost $ 19.99 & shipping was $ 6.99 Total $ 26.98.

I first looked at the box...im like hmmm will it boost my wirless internet connection...i dont know...i plugged it and just ran off the chip...No, it didnt work, But it did pick other wireless connections...Its definitely a product for gamers i guess, but if you know something I don't please post up!!! I'm really trying to enhance my wireless connectivity, i give five stars cause it was delivered with no problems and I know its more to this thing that I really dont feel like reading about...
wifi N usb adapter February 11, 2010 BER (Pasadena, CA United States) This small wifi adapter is well made and does a good job. I was able to stream video to my notebook in another part of the house using this little adapter. My notebook connected at 150Mbps. after 2 hours the unit was only warm not hot like some dongles.
Don't buy this if you own a Mac!!! January 19, 2010 Igor J. Gorkeulhzenht (Kobaia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this wireless adapater for my Mac Pro. Due to a huge mix up, I bought my Mac Pro online and Amazon does not have configuration options for the Mac Pro. By default, the Mac Pro does not have wireless. I bought an Airport Extreme "card" online which is actually something that can only be installed by Apple technicians, or it will void the warranty. I took it into the Apple store, and they refused to install it because I did not buy the part from the Apple store. Yes, it really sucks, but I saved some $500 by buying the Mac Pro online, so I decided to get a USB wireless adapter. Apple does not make a USB wireless adapter, so I purchased one from a third party. What a mistake!
I thought this Planex one looked pretty good. I wanted something small and compact that I could just plug into USB. The device (hardware) itself is probably decent, however their Mac software (drivers and wireless utility) are AWFUL! It is clear that Planex puts very little effort into making the Mac drivers and software. After all, it is a very small market share, and it appears they put very little money into developing for the Mac. Please, do Mac users a favor, and stick with Windows if you are going to do a crappy job on the Mac software. I'd prefer vendors who are lukewarm in their support for Mac OS X to just not make a Mac product at all. Planex -- please don't bother developing for the Mac. You're not good at it!
The problem with the software is that it drops the connections from time to time (it's not my router because my Linux and Window computers are still connected). Sometimes it will work for days without problems. I was just writing a reference for someone on LinkedIn who is looking for a job. It was a very good reference that I put a lot of time into. When I clicked "submit", to my horror, the network connection had dropped. I lost the reference I spent so much time writing. I yelled so loud, that my throat hurts. It still hurts. It's not my wireless router, because my other machines are still connected. Nope, it's this Planex software again. When you buy this Planex adapter, it comes with it's own wireless utility, and it does not use Airport within Mac OS X. It's really bad.
The other problem is that every time I start my Mac, it shows the wireless network connected, but it never works until I manually click the "activate" button, which cycles the connection and then shows it as connected (but this time it works). How can this wireless utility show the wireless network is connected when it is not? It's really bad software!
I checked the Planex site to see if there were any updates to the drivers. Nope. No updates since the original version in April 2009. They don't support Snow Leopard, which has been out for almost 5 months now. I am running 10.5.8 (Leopard) on my Mac Pro and even though they claim this product will work, it will not.
The bottom line is -- if you own a Mac, DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT. Look around for something else from a reputable vendor. I've never even heard of Planex before, but I gave it a shot. I will try to return this product, even though I have had it for a few months. It is just such a bad product that there is no excuse for selling it to Mac users. Much like Microsoft, I wish Apple would certify products made by 3rd party vendors. I think Apple makes great products, but Planex clearly attempted to sell a few more units to Mac users by coming up with some half-baked drivers and utilities that don't work very well. Then they figure it's not worth it to fix bugs and issues for the Mac.
It's 2010, and wireless internet has been around for over a decade. There's simply no excuse for a crappy product that drops connections randomly and doesn't work at startup. I have more reliable internet connectivity on my Linux machines with any Atheros based wifi adapter. Shame on Planex for developing such a poor product for the Mac.
I have to cut and paste THIS review into TextEdit so I don't lose it in case I click submit and the connection is dropped. That's a really bad way to be online, but when you roll with Planex, it's what you have to do.
